Psychotherapist - English & Mandarin Speaking

POSITION SUMMARY

At Prevail Counselling, we are seeking psychotherapists who are fluent in both English and Mandarin and enjoys working with adult individuals and couples which includes university students, young professionals, those raised by immigrant parents, and members of ethnocultural and faith communities.

This is an independent contractor position with an expected caseload of approximately 5–8 clients per week. As the practice grows, there may be opportunities to expand your caseload should you wish to take on additional clients. Sessions will be conducted virtually through our telehealth platform. With our streamlined administration systems and technology, you will have the privileges of private practice, without the burdens of managing a business. We also offer a competitive compensation model that moves away from the traditional 60/40 split, allowing therapists to keep more of what they earn as they grow with the practice. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Committed to the mission of addressing the needs of Ontario's Asian immigrant communities and subsequent generations (lived experience an asset, not required).

  • Offer culturally responsive care that is sensitive to issues related to immigration, identity, family expectations, intergenerational relationships, generational trauma, belonging, and cross-cultural stress.

  • Conduct initial consultations and determine goodness of fit, appropriate treatment direction, or referral needs.

  • Develop and maintain treatment plans that are client-centred, evidence-based, ethical, and aligned with the client’s goals.

  • Stay informed about current research, best practices, and advancements in the field of psychotherapy through ongoing professional development activities.

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries in a timely manner and in accordance with ethical and legal standards.

  • Participate in staff meetings where team bonding and check-ins are emphasized.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, Psychotherapy, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field.

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), including RP (Qualifying), or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).

  • Fluent in both English and Mandarin.

  • Professional liability insurance in place and maintained throughout the contract term.

  • Minimum of 200 direct client contact hours and 50 hours of clinical supervision within the past two years, including experience in assessment, treatment planning, and the provision of psychotherapy services to adult individuals and/or couples.

  • Demonstrated competency in one or more evidence-based experiential, relational, or behavioural therapy approaches.

  • Trauma-informed training and/or experience working with trauma is considered a strong asset.

  • Training or experience grounded in attachment theory and systems-based approaches is considered an asset.

  • Experience or a strong interest in working with Asian immigrant communities and subsequent generations.

  • Access to a stable internet connection, secure and reliable technology, and a private, confidential workspace suitable for conducting virtual therapy sessions.
